PeetiePie Donates to Street Paws

We made a donation to a wonderful cause, Street Paws. My friend has been a very involved volunteer with Street Paws for years and I hear about their great work often. We were happy to be able to help this great charity.

Their Mission: To ensure that homeless animals are provided food, medical attention, and love until a suitable forever home is found. For ferals, this may include supporting them in their original environment through our special care initiative. In addition, they also focus on spay/neuter and vaccination efforts that include educational programs for our communities to ensure their pets do not become another homeless statistic.

Merry Little Christmas Quilted Throw

I would be lying if I said I enjoyed making this one one…..I did not! Well, that is not entirely true. Cutting out all of the pieces and making the blocks was not hard, but man did the assembly of the quilt top break my brain! I do love the colors of the fabrics and it’s a good snuggle size. Keeping this one for my own personal stash.

Happy Quilting, everyone!

Doing our Part to Keep the Kiddos Reading!

PeetiePie has donated to the organization many times over the years. They are based in Athens, GA and that’s where I began my very own reading journey at Chase Street Elementary way back in the 70’s, so I always want to give back to this great charity that supports kids in my old stomping grounds.

Christmas Presents for A Friend’s House

PeetiePie was happy to help out a local children’s charity in our back yard, A Friend’s House.

We’ve made donations to this charity before, but this time we were able to buy several items on their Amazon Holiday Wish List. We love doing our part to help others and hope our purchases will make their Christmas merry and bright!

Visit A Friend’s House to learn more about what they do, to make a donation or find out how you can make can contribute.

Stash Buster Idea!

Holiday Stockings Santa will LOVE to see when he comes down the chimney!

I love it when a plan comes together and this one certainly did! I completed my Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas quilt and had some material left over but not enough to make an entire 2nd quilt. Decided to whip up some stockings to go along with the quilt.

And here’s what I did……

  • I made a simple stocking pattern out of an old folder I no longer needed for work, because everything gets a 2nd purpose around here.
  • For the interior of the stocking and the cuff, cut out out 2 pieces from a lighter material. I used what I had in the shop and used a solid cream/off white material.
  • Used a solid complimentary dark color for the for back of the stocking. I repurposed the left over dark red color I used for accents in the Ho!Ho!Ho! quilt.
  • Made 2.5 inch squares from my leftover Tilda fabrics, sewed them together, pressed the seams, which made the small quilt top I would use to make the quilted front of the stockings.
  • Next I placed the small quilt top on the batting and did my quilting thing! I then cut out the stockings and began assembling them.
  • I used left over strips of the same fabric and wooden buttons to make the embellishments for the front of the stockings.

It’s a great feeling when you can actually use some of your stash vs. just putting it away for a rainy day. I didn’t need to buy anything for these, just used what I already had.
